In recent years, there has been a growing body of scientific evidence demonstrating the clinical effectiveness of the olive leaf for a variety of diseases and conditions.
Even the Bible references the use of olive leaf in medicine – “the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.”
Olive leaf tea is one of the most common, traditional herbal teas used among Mediterranean people to treat disease. It has been used for centuries for the treatment of conditions and diseases such as the common cold, malaria and tropical illnesses (i.e one common and easy way to use olive leaf tea to support your health is to gargle it when you have a sore throat! This may alleviate symptoms, potentially due to a reduction of inflammation and viral infectivity. Try it next time!).

The olive leaf contains a wide variety of compounds and constituents that have been shown to be highly beneficial for health and wellness, such as:
• Caffeic acid
• Vanillic acid
The two most prominent compounds that have been widely studied for their therapeutic benefit are oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol.
Research shows that oleuropein may have beneficial effects on health such as benefits for hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and hyperlipidaemia. However, research related to the specific health benefits of olive leaf tea is limited - though, there is an abundance of evidence around the bioactive components found in the olive leaf tea as listed above, so we could assume we could gain a similar benefit from our tea…
